Create A Boatur Account
To get started, visit our Create Account page. We require your Full Name, an active Email, and Birthday (you must be 21 or older), along with your Current City and State. Your Boatur Name defaults to your Full Name, you only need to change this if you’re creating a business account. While a Boater Safety ID isn't mandatory initially, it's needed if you plan to operate a vessel. You can add it later via your profile edit page. Click Create new account, follow the email link to complete the activation process, and we're ready to go aboard on booking your first voyage!
Understanding A Voyage
A 'Voyage' at Boatur refers to the rental duration. We offer four voyage types: Self-Guided, Captain Available, Captained, and Chartered. While anyone can book Captained and Chartered voyages, Self-Guided ones need a Boater Safety ID, and Captain Available ones only require it if you operate the vessel.
We define 'Departure' as the voyage start time and 'Arrival' as the end. For any of the voyages on Boatur, if you're the operator, you'll have the vessel for the entire duration. For Captained voyages, you'll meet the Captain at the dock each day.
Browsing Listings
Visit the Navigation page to explore nearby vessels on the map. Pan the map to search different areas or use the search filter for specific vessels or voyage types. After your search, a list of vessels may appear depending on the available fleet. While scrolling, save your favorite vessels using the ; these are accessible from your 'Saved Vessels' page. Once you’ve found a vessel, tap on the image or make/model name to view its listing page.
The Vessel Listing Page
Each 'Listing Page' displays the vessel's images, make/model, unique name created by the Vessel Owner, the date the vessel was first listed, who’s hosting, the location of the vessel, vessel type, age, and length. Also included are reviews, and the vessel rating (out of 5 stars). Within the review section, reviews by confirmed Guests will have a 'verified booking' tag. The Host can respond to reviews, indicated by the 'vessel host' tag.
The 'Voyage Specifics' section details the vessel's capacity, voyage type, and pet/fishing policies. The 'Description' section highlights the vessel's unique features. 'Host Rules' outline any specific guidelines.
To get started with your booking, select any available dates from the calendar, and the voyage details, including cost, will appear. For any pre-booking inquiries or concerns, utilize the 'Ask Host' button. Our hosts are eager to assist, promoting an informed booking experience. If everything looks good, proceed to checkout. Enter any promo codes when prompted, and book this vessel by using the available button within the “Book This Vessel” section.
Preparing For Your First Voyage
Upon booking your vessel, you will be redirected to your Voyage Portal. Your Planner will now display the newly added voyage, noted by the Depart Date and Arrival Date. You can easily access voyage details and stay in touch with your Host at any time by using the adjacent buttons. The Voyage Details page provides a comprehensive overview of your trip, including your Booking #, vessel information, and relevant details. You can also cancel your voyage up until the designated departure time, as outlined in our terms.
Additionally, the "Guest Voyage Waivers" section at the bottom of your Voyage Details is available for your review. This section includes Departure and Arrival waivers, which are essential for both your and the Host's protection. The Host will present these forms to you at the relevant points during your voyage. If the Host is not present, or omits using them, you can access these forms independently. Once you submit the Departure Waiver form, your voyage will officially begin.
It’s Time To Voyage!
Anticipate an email notification a day prior to departure, ensuring no detail is overlooked, as bookings can be made six months in advance. Arrive 10 minutes early to inspect the vessel. If it falls short of your expectations, this is your final opportunity to cancel. Utilize the Departure Waiver to conduct a thorough inspection with your Host, noting any discrepancies, including engine or hull damage, in the 'Vessel Notes' field. Document these instances with photographs. By signing the waiver, affirm your commitment as the sole vessel operator and to maintain sobriety. We strongly advocate for sober skippers. Upon submission, it is now time to begin your voyage!
As you cast off, we hope you enjoy your time on the water, but we emphasize the importance of responsible and safe boating practices. In the event of an emergency, please refer to the provided Voyage Details Page for critical contact information. Two essential links are available there: Sea Tow, a nationwide vessel towing service, and your local emergency services (911) – do not hesitate to dial 911 directly. If Sea Tow is unavailable in your area and you require towing, contact 911 for emergency services. They will assist in connecting you with the appropriate local resources. When in doubt, call 911.
Also, please reach out to your Host at any point throughout your voyage if you have any questions, and please keep them updated on your arrival.
Arriving From Your Voyage
Upon completion of your voyage you are expected back at the dock at the designated arrival time as indicated on your Voyage Details. The Host will contact you if the drop off location has changed; otherwise return the vessel to the point of departure. Fill out and submit the Arrival waiver to officially conclude your voyage. If you require a refund, you can submit a request within 24 hours of the designated arrival time, as outlined in our terms.
From your Voyage Portal, access the Voyage Log button at the bottom of the page to view all of your Upcoming, Underway, and Completed voyages; also, any voyages that have a refund pending. You will also find records of processed refunds and Guest Voyage Waivers, as well as the ability to book a vessel again and rate previously booked vessels.
On each vessel listing page, you can write a review about your experience, and use ! at the bottom of the page to report any issues with the vessel (e.g. Images not up to date, inaccuracy with vessel guest capacity, etc.).
